In this edition of Flashback Friday, we take a look back to the 2017 Charger Girls auditions, which were held at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion. I bring this up, to remind us of the glorious years that the Charger Girls were in existence. They were special and I loved the classic Charger Girl uniform. But since their move to Los Angeles, it appears that the Charger Girls days were numbered and when the Chargers moved into their new stadium in Inglewood, that was the the last we saw of the venerable squad.
I was told that around that time, that the Chargers were going to take the Charger Girls “in house” from E2K, the organization that had been contracted to manage the Charger Girls for many a year. But since that time, I have not seen any movement by the organization to bring back or even rebrand the squad. So it is entirely possible the Charger Girls are a thing of the past and even if the Chargers revisit the idea of a spirit squad/hype team, I don’t think they’ll ever be the same.
But, we shall see. We can always hope, but the way things have been going in professional cheerleading, the old venerable Charger Girls are not coming back, I fear.
